A Day of Adventures in Odsherred - Three Forests by Bike for the Whole Family

Staying in a summerhouse in Odsherred and renting bikes from us? Or are you a day visitor looking for a scenic ride on two wheels? Then we’ve got the perfect bike route for you - but only if you start from our location on Gasværksvej in Nykøbing Sjælland.

This tour requires you to begin in town, where three of Odsherred’s most beautiful forests lie like pearls on a string – ready to be explored by bike. The route is ideal for families, beginners, curious mountain bikers, and anyone who wants to get out into nature and put some kilometers in their legs. It’s a day trip in Odsherred filled with forest paths, great views, history, and stops by the water.

Day Trip from Odsherred Cykeludlejning - Start from Gasværksvej in Nykøbing

The ride begins at our shop on Gasværksvej - where you pick up your rental bikes or start directly if you’re already in town.

From here, you cycle down Egebjergvej, continue along Isefjordsvej, and at the first pedestrian crossing, you turn right into Grønnehave Forest. That’s where the magic starts: peaceful forest trails, birdsong, and a true nature vibe - all just a stone’s throw from town.

The forest is easy to navigate and great for both beginners and bike rides with children. There’s even a little cultural bonus - hidden among the trees you’ll find the Psychiatric Museum and the historic Anneberg Park, perfect for a short stop or a stroll.

After passing the greenhouse and rolling down the trail by Anneberg Hill, continue towards Annebjergvej and choose one of the entrances into Anneberg Forest - the second forest on your route.

Here, the terrain starts to play with you a bit more. In 2025, a real mountain bike trail in Odsherred was created, and it’s fun! Not dangerous. Not too wild. Just fun. You set the pace, and there are plenty of ways around the tougher parts if they look a bit much.

If you’re the type who says “I do mountain biking - I ride in the woods now and then,” this is the perfect place to test what it really feels like to ride a trail. Give it a try - no club membership or titanium gear required.

Ulkerup Forest - A Family-Friendly Bike Ride with History and Nature

You can continue on to Ulkerup Forest, the largest of the three. The paths level out here, giving you time to look up and enjoy the surroundings.

Don’t miss the story of the Ulkerup People, with wooden sculptures and signs that tell the tale of a village that vanished – but was never quite forgotten. The forest is perfect for a break, a snack, and a bit of storytelling. A bike ride through the forests of Odsherred doesn’t get much better than this.

A Bike Route with a View - End Your Ride by the Fjord with a Rest or a Dip

As you head back toward Nykøbing, the road follows the Isefjord, with the water on your right and plenty of chances to stop. There are piers, benches, and peaceful spots to sit and enjoy the view. It’s one of the most scenic cycling routes in Odsherred, suitable for both adults and kids.

Maybe you’ve broken a sweat, maybe not. Doesn’t matter. This ride isn’t about speed or Strava segments - it’s about enjoying nature on two wheels. Everyone can join in, whether you're a grown-up, a child, a beginner, or just curious to try something new.
